Reporting to the Director of Sport Development, this position assists the planning, development, delivery, evaluation and management of all program responsibilities pertaining to sport development in Alberta. This is achieved through coordination and support in the areas of athlete, coach and official development, educational programming, funding to provincial sport associations and community groups, and developing and maintaining interprovincial/federal relations.
Specific duties include:
• Plan, coordinate and evaluate programs and services to meet the needs and expectations of the Alberta sport community within the scope of Alberta Sport Connection and Ministry business plans.
• Review of grant applications and strategic/business plans from sport organizations in order to provide recommendations for funding approval to the ASC committees and ASC Board of Directors to ensure financial accountability.
• Conduct client centered evaluations of existing programs to assess and provide recommendations for future direction of programs and events to management.
• Provide advice to provincial associations and Albertans on funding opportunities, educational opportunities, athlete, coach, and official development, and strategic initiatives.
• Assist in the design guidelines and policies for programs and provide recommendations on policy matters.
• Develop partnerships by providing facilitation, consultation and guidance to groups in a liaison role.
• Administer, monitor and evaluate sport program budgets and appropriate grant budgets of ASC to ensure that expenditures reflect the purpose of the Business Plans and support the overall operation of ASC in such a way that clients have the opportunity to access and benefit from programs.
• Assist in the development of recommendations to management for ASC's Board of Directors to facilitate the resolution of current and future issues.
• Various projects as assigned.

BUILD COLLABORATIVE ENVIRONMENTS: You will be working in collaboration with Provincial Sport Associations, grant applicants, sport coordinators, coaches, intergovernmental staff and the general public. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including presentation, facilitation, mediation, and business writing skills, are a must.
AGILITY: The successful candidate must be able to operate in an environment where priorities and direction are constantly changing. When faced with a change, the ability to identify that change and its implication, in advance of its impacts, is critical.
CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING: You will leverage your knowledge of community, provincial, national and international trends in sport development activities to inform strategic program initiatives across the province. Considerable judgement , problem solving, and a holistic understanding of sport development trends will ensure your success.
Qualifications
A related university degree (physical education, recreation, sport management, etc.) plus a minimum of three years of experience in the area of sport administration are required. Event and project planning is also a requirement. Demonstrated experience working with local, provincial and/or national sport organizations is an asset. Previous grant management experience is also considered an asset.
Salary
$2,588.03 - $3,394.66 biweekly (~$67,547 - $88,600 per annum)
